Inspired by Nature and Luxury, The Cocoon, designed for a residential lot in Toco is an architectural masterpiece designed to offer an unparalleled blend of luxury, comfort, and seamless integration with nature. This multi-floor villa was created to accommodate family gatherings for bonding throughout the year. It redefines modern living with a design that embodies fluidity, organic forms, and a deep connection to its surroundings, creating an elegant retreat that feels both protective and expansive—much like its namesake. It features four ensuite bedrooms, comfortably sleeps eleven while celebrating impressive ocean views off of the north coast of Trinidad.
The structure’s architecture embraces straight lines in a star shape, coming together in a central bonding space, resulting in interior spaces that evokes a sense of warmth and shelter while maintaining openness. The star-shaped footprint was deliberate on the part of Contemporary Caribbean to take maximum advantage of the views from each space. Large floor-to-ceiling windows ensure an uninterrupted flow of natural light, enhancing the interplay between the villa’s interior and exterior landscapes. Every level of The Cocoon is designed to maximize privacy and breathtaking views, offering an immersive experience that shifts with the light and seasons.
The villa’s multi-floor layout allows for distinct living zones, including private bedroom suites, open-concept communal spaces, and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. The primary living areas feature high ceilings and a fluid layout, fostering connectivity and an airy, expansive feel. Meanwhile, the upper levels provide more secluded, tranquil spaces, perfect for rest and relaxation.
Natural materials such as stone, wood, and glass are intricately woven into the design, reinforcing the villa’s organic aesthetic. A neutral, earthy color palette enhances the serene ambiance and does not compete with the stunning backdrop of the ocean. Modern finishes and high-end furnishings ensure that luxury is felt in every detail. Sustainable elements, including passive cooling techniques and eco-friendly materials, further enhance the villa’s harmony with nature. The entire energy needs of the villa is accommodated through the use of solar technology and a water generation system ensures that the occupants are always assured of a water supply (as Toco experiences many interruptions in the water supply).
The Cocoon stands as a testament to Contemporary Caribbean’s expertise in crafting architectural designs that embrace both sophistication and tranquility. This villa is more than a home—it is a bonding agent and living sanctuary, perfectly attuned to the rhythms of its environment.
